Warehouses require Iron, which you may not have yet until you start building into your Villages. I recommend upgrading your main building more and that will give you space. You can also adjust the space you do have to accommodate for what you need more of.

I'm not sure how far you are now, but that sounds more like getting your first main building up to level 5. I think that is attainable in less than a week.

Otherwise...yes. Not sure about years but that is a lot of commitment for what I'm assuming is not a huge reward.

Basically, accomplish the goals that are set in quests and use those resources to create essential buildings and to upgrade what you need (or just your resource/science buildings).
